Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is a name who will rule the world of sufi music and qawali for many years to come. He was born in Faisalabad on 13th October 1948. He got his training of Qawwali and classical music from his father Ustad Fateh Ali Khan. Nusrat's popularity was not limited to indian subcontinent but he had attracted many western audiences as well through his powerful voice and soulful renditions in his music. He had sung fusion records of Michael Brook and he contributed with Eddie Vedder on the Dead Man Walking. Nusrat also sung for The Prayer Cycle of Jonathan Elias. He had also sung in a number of films both Pakistan and Indian Cinema. He had his name in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest recorded output by a Qawali artist that is a total of 125 albums. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan passed away on 11th August 1997. But his ghazals, songs and qawwalis will keep the world of music enlightened for ages to come.
